West Acton Primary School – Educational Psychotherapy
Pupil Support
This year we will continue to support our pupils and have a team of three Educational Psychotherapists.
Ms Cunningham is onsite Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Mrs Pearce on Wednesday and Ms Cohan on Friday. You will see them around school, they may contact you by phone and will also hold parent events during the year.
Pupil support is offered in a variety of ways:
Working with children in groups – small groups to help pupils with friendships and/or social emotional challenges.
Working with children for 1 to 1 Educational Psychotherapy – work with individual children to help them with their emotional needs.
All pupils have access to our pupil created Safe TT Spot – a safe, confidential space where children feel listened to about their concerns. This is a self referral system - pupils have access to drop in a slip requesting to be slip. If you would NOT like your child to make use of this service, please let us know.
They work relentlessly within the school to:
- Provide everyone with a confidential space where thoughts and feelings can be explored - our pupil designed Safe TT Spot
- Raise children’s self-esteem to help them to feel more confident and build positive relationships at home and at school
- Offer practical and emotional support to families and carers helping them to better understand and communicate with their children
- After referrals from staff and with parental consent run therapeutic groups and 1 to 1 sessions for pupils
- Support staff to enable them to take care of themselves and support the pupils
- Provide parents with a weekly tip on Friday's newsletter.
If you would like to contact them please email them via the Office on admin@west-acton.ealing.sch.uk
