At West Acton Primary School we want our pupils to be members of our school and wear our uniform (including PE Kit). The uniform has been designed to be practical for a primary school while reflecting the high standards expected at school – it is to be worn with pride at all times.
We feel that it is important that children learn to dress smartly and appropriately and grow up at West Acton understanding that most secondary schools and later in life when they are working they will be required to dress smartly and appropriately. We look to parents/carers to work with the school to ensure that children come to school always maintaining a high standard of dress.
It is our policy that all pupils should wear school uniform (including PE kit) when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours (unless there are different dress requirements). This Policy is for the whole school: Nursery, Reception and Year 1 to 6 and also includes the PE kit.
We consider the financial implications of buying uniform for families: in 2019 we changed to white shirts and white PE shirts rather than coloured logo shirts, in 2021 we added a second suppliers, we accept sweatshirts without logos.
We encourage parents to buy required and non - branded generic items from the most competitive outlets such as Tesco, Asda, Primark, M &S or second hand. We have two suppliers, mainly for our branded jumper, book bag and optional tie.
We have regular second hand uniform sales by our PTA and pupil Eco Committee and have a selection of second hand uniform available at all times. Please ask in our office or email email@example.com if you would like further information about second hand uniform.
