Information and Computer Technology
ICT is becoming more and more important in our modern world so we believe it is essential for us to provide children with opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge that they will need to access technology. We also believe that learning is enhanced in all subjects through the use of ICT.
Children have access to 1 hour in the ICT suite per week where they practice different ICT skills. Children learn to use a variety of computer programs from Word and PowerPoint to 2Simple where they can make their own interactive books, produce graphs and animations.
Children use microphones to capture ideas in group work, they use cameras to take still photos and also to film each other doing drama, experiments and much more. Animation and film making are a fun way for pupils to consolidate the information they have learnt in a variety of topics. iPads are also used to engage children and a range of apps are used to help children progress in their learning.
DB Primary is our learning platform which enables children to learn both at school and at home. Children share their ideas with other pupils through forums and votes. In addition they are able to access suitable websites to further their learning and they’re enthusiastic about practicing what they’ve learnt in Maths and English lessons through the educational games put on the site by teachers. Videos made my pupils can also be uploaded there so parents can see what their children have been doing.
