Art supports the rest of the curriculum, using a variety of media and techniques in art and craft work. The children are encouraged to be spontaneously creative; our classrooms are colourful and attractive and display is seen as a means of valuing children’s work and creating a stimulating environment. The art curriculum includes 6 broad themes: drawing, painting, collage, printing, 3D work and textiles which create lots of opportunities for children to express their ideas visually. These themes are usually integrated into other areas of learning or sometimes done as a separate topic.
Within their work, the children will develop their skills of the elements of art: colour, line, tone, texture, form, shape and pattern. The study of a wide range of artists and designers complements this work.
