At West Acton Primary School we have an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) which opened in September 2016. We currently have 14 pupils in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3. The ARP is for pupils with Autism, Social Communication difficulties and other complex learning difficulties. Pupils are allocated to our ARP through Ealing SENS Department at Carmelita House in Ealing.
Pupils in the ARP have Education, Health Care Plans. They spend part of their day in the ARP receiving specialist teaching and support but also integrate into mainstream for a proportion of their day. They receive support when in mainstream and gradually work towards independent integration as their skills and confidence develop.
Children need an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) to attend our ARP. We receive referrals from the SEND assessment Team at Carmelita House, 21-22 The Mall, Ealing, London W5 2PJ. Our ARP team review the paperwork, visit the pupil in their current education setting and assess against our admission criteria as to whether we can meet the child's needs.
If we feel we are able to meet the child's needs, we invite you to meet us and look around the school and our ARP. This is then followed by an admission process in liaison with the SENS Assessment Team at Carmelita House. Children cannot move from our mainstream classes into the ARP as this is decided by Ealing who receive applications from across the borough.
